Rookie Season is the first book in the Love in the Ballpark Series, by V.K. Robbins. This adult erotic romance tale sizzles with romantic and sexual chemistry, emotion, and suspense. Once you start reading, you won't be able to put it down.
I’m always up for a good romantic suspense and author Veronica Robbins gave me just that with her novel, Rookie Season. We meet Rose Lasting and Clay Love – two unlikely individuals who meet awkwardly at a baseball game. Rose is a dedicated baseball fan and Clay is the hot rookie. These two start a relationship swiftly and boy, there are some steamy bedroom encounters.
PROS – I loved that Rose was the older woman dating a younger man. It always seems to be the other way around. I appreciated how well the author included a few questionable characters, which makes for a suspenseful story. I also enjoyed the fact that Rose’s best pal was an older man who she looked to as a grandfather. Another unusual but enjoyable twist to the characters.
CONS – Perhaps more back story of Rose’s failed marriage prior to meeting Clay? I don’t think the lack of info took away from the story, but I am interested to know more.
Would I recommend this book? YES! I am eagerly awaiting for book two in this series.
