My Review
Oh, my goodness. When I began reading To Find You, I was not expecting the literary ride that Cerece Rennie Murphy took me on. This isn't just a historical romance book. To Find You is much deeper; it transcends your typical love story. Readers will go through four different stories involving a different couple who have such a thick connection they can't even explain. This book was beautifully written. Are these four different couples or has Murphy created one love that reincarnates over time? That is for you to decide.

What inspired you to write this book?
Writing the last book in the Order of the Seers Trilogy was so intense for me. I was crying. I was sad to say goodbye to my characters and I just thought to myself, “Good grief! I need to write a love story, a sex scene! Something that doesn’t involve world destruction and superpowers!” The thought had barely left my brain before the story idea for To Find You came to me. Literally, I was going through final edits for The Last Seer (The 3rd book in Order of the Seers) and the story started coming to me so strongly that I had to pause my editing and start outlining the story.
I’ve always loved stories about star-crossed lovers. My favorite story romance of all time is the movie Somewhere In Time. So when the idea of these two souls trying to find each other through time came to me, I was thrilled. I couldn’t wait to start writing it.
Do you have a favorite character, or in what ways do any of the characters represent you?
I love them all for different reasons. Ama is the spirit that would not be broken. Ekow for me is hope, strength and determination to do what is right. The great thing about watching these characters for me was seeing which parts of themselves manifested in the different time periods. Satish is a cynic and I loved watching her journey to love. I also sympathized with August and his struggle to reconcile that sense of understanding he could never name within himself. Ichiro and Anna just broke my heart, but even in an impossible situation, they found a truth that so many rarely find. Then Adam and Cara are just the culmination of everything their souls have gone through up to this point in their journey and they are ready for it. It was exciting just to watch them.
What surprises did you come across when writing the book?
The book was more challenging for me to write then I thought it would be. I usually don’t write in 1st person and I’d never written a historical romance before, so the research that I had to do for this book was very different from what I had to do for my other novels. Also, I was definitely less in control of the narrative than I’m used to. The characters really took over and each section of the book is told from a slightly different perspective. At one point, I couldn’t even get them to let me write the book in chronological order! It felt crazy, but when I gave into the journey, it was magic.
Is there metaphor or simile that you feel best represents the book? I can’t think of anything, but true love never dies, which doesn’t really count as a metaphor or a simile, but it’s what the book is about.
What, if anything, would you change about the book?
*Looks around nervously* Nothing really. I honestly love it. I feel very grateful to have been the vehicle through which these characters chose to tell their story and I tried my very best to do them justice.
