Crazy Dumplings Virtual Blog Tour

Today, I am hosting a tour stop for the Crazy Dumplings Virtual Blog Tour. Author Amanda Roberts has created a Kickstarter campaign for her upcoming cookbook, Crazy Dumplings. Below you will find information on Amanda's exciting project and detailed information about how you can participate.

From Amanda

Crazy Dumplings will contain 30 of my original dumpling recipes plus 5 dumpling recipes submitted by backers, the dumpling wrapper recipe, and several original sauce and dip recipes such as buffalo sauce, guacamole, and salsa. There are dumpling recipes for appetizers, main courses, and desserts. You could even prepare a whole Thanksgiving dinner totally out of dumplings with this book!

I am self-publishing this book, but cookbooks (largely due to the cost of a photographer and testing recipes) are far more expensive to produce than regular books. This is why I am turning to Kickstarter for help. There are some great reward levels including a digital copy of the book at only the $10 level, a physical copy of the book at only the $15 level, and the awesome dumpling dumplinger at only the $20 level (the most popular level for this campaign). But at the $50 level, backers can even submit their own awesome dumpling ideas to be included in the book.

UPDATE: 100 Things in 2013

6. Visit Astoria. - Done!

Last week I drove down to Astoria, Oregon and spent two nights. It was a quick visit that included going to the beach and checking out the Peter Iredale shipwreck, walking around Fort Stevens State Park, tromping through the woods to see a beautiful waterfall, and viewing The Astoria Column.

63.  Eat an avocado. - Done!

I ate an avocado! My manfriend made a delcious guacamole that I devoured.

74.  Submit art & writing to compilation projects. - Made progress!

I contributed a short essay to a Self-care compilation zine called, The Worth of Water.

Vegan Food Swap

Earlier this month I came across the Vegan Food Swap. I thought it would be an awesome idea so I signed up. The swap rules were to send a package of vegan goods to your swap partner (staying under $20) and include a handwritten note, then blog about the experience.

I've been vegan for about four months now and I am always eager to try new vegan food. I thought this would be a fun way to discover food items that may not be available in my area.
Plus, I love swapping mail.

Yesterday my food box arrived from Elisa of Elisa In Real Life.

My package included:

- A bag of Uncle Jerry's handmade pretzels. Each pretzel is rolled and twisted by hand and baked in a stone hearth oven. They are delicious!

- A package of multigrain squares. They are a great snack and I enjoy them more than the typical thick and round rice cake.

- Two containers of soup - tortilla soup with baked chips and pad thai noodle soup. I am looking forward to trying them because I love soup.

- A bottle of aged Balsamic Vinegar of Modena, yay!

This was a super fun swap and I am looking forward to the next one. A big thank you to Elisa for the package and Cat (The Verdant Life) for putting the Vegan Swap together.
